Education

I am a native of Scottsboro and graduated Scottsboro High School in 2009. After high school, I attended Northeast Alabama Community College and graduated, in 2010, with an Associates degree in Child Development. I then attended and graduated from Athens State University in 2012 with an Elementary Education degree. I recantly attended the University of Alabama with a Masters degree in Special Education K-12.

Experience

After graduating Athens State University in 2012, I became the Lead Teacher of Collins Intermediate School's 21st CCLC After School Program. While working as the lead teacher I also completed three special education leaves during the school year. In 2013, I was a Special Education Instructional Assistant at Collins Intermediate School/Scottsboro High School. I am now an Itinerant Special Education teacher at Scottsboro High School and I could not be more thrilled! This is my fourth year at SHS!! I am so excited to get this school year on the road.

Bio

Hello, my name is Katie Brogdon. This is my third year as a Special Education teacher at Scottsboro High School. I am beyond blessed and excited to be working at Scottsboro High School and with this amazing group of people.  I truly believe that I have the best job in the world. I wake up each morning excited to come to school and teach my eager students. Most of my friends think I'm 'weird' because I like to work and go to school so much!

My husband, Justin Brogdon and I, currently bought a house and moved into our own house. My husband is my best friend, my rock, and someone who is my voice of reason. I love animals and would take them all if I could. I also enjoy Zumba and dancing. I took dance for 13 years and LOVED it. I love to swim as well. I am a home body and love to stay at home and watch a good movie and relax with my husband. However, sometimes I like to go out to watch a movie or get out and occasionally shop. Another very important part of my my life is going to church and being active in church. God has blessed me throughout my life way more than I deserve.

My passion in life is to be the voice for the students that do not seem to have a voice. I believe that all students can learn no matter what academic and developmental level that they are on. I love working with the students that I work with. They are a joy and a blessing and everyday is different. I believe that everyone has a voice, we just have to make the effort to listen. I am so excited to get the year started and cannot wait to work with the students.

Thank you,

Katie Brogdon
