Hello, my name is Katie Brogdon. This is my third year as a
Special Education teacher at Scottsboro High School. I am beyond blessed
and excited to be working at Scottsboro High School and with this
amazing group of people. I truly believe that I have the best job in
the world. I wake up each morning excited to come to school and teach my
eager students. Most of my friends think I'm 'weird' because I like to
work and go to school so much!
I am a native to Scottsboro and have lived here all my life. My
parents are Sherry and Paul Majors. My mom currently is the reading
coach at Caldwell Elementary School and is so passionate about what she
does. She has inspired me my entire life and she is the reason that I
wanted to become a teacher. My dad is Paul Majors. He retired as the
captain of Station 1 Fire Department. He is a very hard worker. Other
people that are inspirations and large parts in my life are: Christine
Lee (grandmother), Vicki Watts (aunt), Tim Watts (uncle), Ann Cornelious
, and Krissy Shelton (family friend).
My husband, Justin Brogdon and I, currently bought a house and moved
into our own house. My husband is my best friend, my rock, and someone
who is my voice of reason. I have three cats Oreo, Lucky, and Runt. They
feel like they own the house, however I love them anyway. I love
animals and would take them all if I could. I also enjoy Zumba and
dancing. I took dance for 13 years and LOVED it. I love to swim as well.
I am a home body and love to stay at home and watch a good movie and
relax with my husband. However, sometimes I like to go out to watch a
movie or get out and occasionally shop. Another very important part of
my my life is going to church and being active in church. God has
blessed me throughout my life way more than I deserve.
My passion in life is to be the voice for the students that do not
seem to have a voice. I believe that all students can learn no matter
what academic and developmental level that they are on. I love working
with the students that I work with. They are a joy and a blessing and
everyday is different. I believe that everyone has a voice, we just have
to make the effort to listen. I am so excited to get the year started
and cannot wait to work with the students.
